The new CHANEL Travel Diary Collection is now on counter and there are some seriously covetable items in the line-up.

To find inspiration for collection, Lucia Pica – CHANEL Global Creative Makeup and Color Designer – embarked on a Californian road trip. “I wanted to make my own mood board; to be inspired by what is happening in the moment,” says Lucia Pica. Her idea was to experience afresh the lights and colors of the outside world, creating a complete starting point for her creative process. From the dawn mists and sun dappled coastline to the City Lights and gritty noir of downtown LA. She captured fleeting, photographic moments to serve as inspiration for color and visual textures that could inform the collection.

The centrepiece of the collection, the PALETTE ESSENTIELLE, R1080 is about effortlessness beauty and redefines the concept for the modern women. It offers 3-in-1 products which come together in one sleek, handbag-friendly compact.

THE CONCEALER: With its creamy, balm-like texture which glides comfortably over skin, you simply use this concealer where needed.

THE HIGHLIGHTER: The gliding, creamy formula leaves a delicate touch of luminosity on skin without being too shimmering or obvious. The formula contains a high concentration of pearlescent particles that play with the light in a modern way.

THE BLUSH FOR CHEEKS AND LIPS: A melting, creamy blush created to bring a translucent flush of colour to cheeks and lips, creating a fresh and healthy flush.

I also love the slick packaging of the Retractable Dual-Tip Concealer Brush, R830, It is the perfect tool to blend and buff.

For nails, LE VERNIS HORIZON LINE (GREEN) AND NEW DAWN, R450 each, captures the pale, soft greenish grey of the sea on a cloudy day with almost watercolor perfection. Picas inspiration came from everywhere: the bark of a tree, tyre marks, headlights.

The smoky, spacey and skyward shades of the LES 4 OMBRES eyeshadow palette in ‘Road Movie’, R920 (pictured above) are inspired by deep tones of water and shades of cool light. Pica’s intention with this palette was to bring an intense and enigmatic darkness to the eyes.

Lucia Pica’s desire for this collection was that ”bright pop colors” on the lips would be a counterpoint to the intensity of the eyes. My favourite colour from the collection is ROUGE ALLURE VELVET, in First Light, R610 (above). It has a soft, matte texture and coats lips in a bright, poppy orange-red colour that adds energy and irreverence to ones look.

Another effortless essential, and a hallmark of Lucia Pica’s own work: the perfect deep black eyeliner pen. SIGNATURE DE CHANEL, R720, is an intense and smooth formula that glides effortlessly across the eyes to create intense, satiny-black lines. Its both waterproof and smudge-proof. Also pictured above is the ROUGE ALLURE INK in Highway, R610.

You can find the CHANEL TRAVEL DIARY FALL / WINTER 2017 Collection at counters nationwide, while stocks last.
