Last week I attended the Poetry Autumn Winter 2017 preview to see what the brand has in store for us as the cooler months approach. As usual, the goods on offer did not disappoint, and I spotted many items I think will be key investments this winter.

The collection was designed with a strong yet feminine woman in mind; someone who seeks out the unique, and is drawn to what she finds beautiful.  “Imagine discovering a lush secret garden, wonderfully highlighted by the moon on an evening stroll. This is the experience that encapsulates the mood of the winter collections,” says Poetry’s clothing buyer.

Deep shades of midnight blue and forest green are enlivened with bold shots of sunny chartreuse. If you prefer a more demure colour palette, there’s soft dusty pinks which work well with shades of olive oatmeal and camel. You’ll also find vibrant jewel tones like teal and plum that work exceptionally well with darker colours like navy and black.

The colours and styling of the key items in the range are new, but the popular silhouettes remain unchanged. The focus throughout is on comfort and warmth. Shirt and wrap dresses, tunics, bomber jackets, coats, slim fit trousers and knitwear is available in a range of styles, helping you achieve an elegant, yet unfussy layered look.

 4 Must-Have Items

My favourite item has to be the Nude / pink top with the brown & black graphic pattern. Look how well PR Jenna McArthur styled it in the image below, pairing it with distressed denims, black heels, a top knot and dark lips.

The entire range is designed to be mixed and matched. New and exciting updates include denims in an array of colours, from pink to burgundy and black. Girlfriend jeans have been introduced to the range, lending a more feminine edge to this otherwise masculine style.

There’s a great selection of shoes and accessories too.

Poetry AW:17 - acc hold

Due to their popularity every winter, a wide selection of boot styles are available. I got a tad excited when I saw this updated veldskoen style -perfect for a weekend away in the country, or a morning at the farmers market.

There were many accessories that caught my eye, from beautifully made tote bags in warm winter tones, to 100% wool felt hats and luxurious silk scarves.

I adore the soft-as-butter olive leather and the burgundy felt hat below.

Poetry AW:17 - accThe bold statement necklace below, adored with stone-like beads and rope details will add a very interesting element to many an outfit.

These delicate silver earrings with their beautiful flower design will give any look a feminine touch.

For this season’s homeware, Poetry looked further afield, and the selection echoes the style and lifestyle of a traveler who curiously collects keepsakes from around the globe.

You’ll find a beautiful selection of tablecloths, throws and scatter cushions in tones that compliment the clothing collection.

Also available are handmade Portuguese pottery, frames inlaid with mother-of-pearl and bone, and a range of chic black crockery.

I love the contrasting textures like brass, marble and wood that add depth, sophistication and warmth to the homeware range.

Poetry’s full autumn/winter range of fashion and homeware will be available in stores and online at from April 2017.

Poetry has my heart!!! Every single item that I have purchased wears well, is stylish and just transends every fashion season. Love the somewhat muted tones of this range. Chartreuse has become a firm favourite in my colour spectrum. I also love that each season I can simply just add one or two pieces that will compliment my wardrobe. Loving the Nude / pink top with the brown & black graphic pattern (looks amazing on Jenna), embroidered shirt and the delicate silver earrings.

What a lovely collection. Always beautifully coordinated and the little extras are my favorite… love the delicate little silver flower earrings xx

Thanks for the comment, Debra. I find Poetry’s collections just get better and better as the seasons go by. Also, the quality of the items is fantastic, so you tend to wear the pieces for years. And agree, the delicate flower earring are STUNNING #Need

Thanks for the comment, Lalannie. Strange you should mention it, but Chartreuse is fast becoming my go-to colour for winter too. It works so well on both brunettes and blondes, dark and light skin. And that top! I actually wanted to wear it (just like Jenna had co-ordinated it) to my CHANEL reader event, but sadly it’s not in stores yet 🙁
