My love for the L’Occitane brand grows stronger with each new product I try. My latest ‘beauty love affair’ is with their ‘Aromachologie’ Body Care Collection.
Key to the brands heritage is their unique distillation process – a process that captures the highest concentration of a plant’s benefits. In Provence in 1976, L’Occitane’s founder Olivier Bausson purchased a distillation still. He gathered some wild rosemary and extracted its essential oil. He used this oil to make shampoos, which he sold at the local market. One year later, L’Occitance harvested its first ingredient: lavender. This was followed by Shea Butter in 1980, Verbena in 1990 and Immortelle in 2002.
The Aromachologie line uses the highest quality essential oils that penetrate well, work fast, and have an excellent capacity to carry nutrients to the skin. There are two new ranges in the line; one that promotes relaxation and the other that revitalises the senses.
The Relaxing Pillow Mist (R310) BUY IT HERE is brilliant for creating a calming environment that promotes well being and relaxation. The spray can be used on your pillows, curtains or bed linen to create a calming atmosphere, conducive to a deep sleep. The spray contains relaxing oils of lavender, bergamot, mandarin, sweet orange and geranium. It really has a beautiful scent and I love the sturdy, dark glass, apothecary-like bottle.
The Relaxing Massage Body Oil (420) BUY IT HERE is a rich oil that helps relax the senses and easy away tension. You apply it onto the body and message. It’s made using sweet almond oil from Provence, lavender, bergamot, mandarin, sweet orange and geranium. I like how it leaves my skin supple, soft and fragranced with a subtle lavender scent. For an even more relaxed state, use it in conjunction with the Relaxing Pillow Mist.
I love a good body scrub, and the Revitalizing Body Scrub (R530) BUY IT HERE is one of the nicest I’ve tried this year. Aside from the lovely old school, jam-like jar packaging, I found this sugar scrub excellent and sloughing away dead skin cells. I prefer a sugar scrub to salt, as I think it’s a little gentler on the skin. This one is made with sugar crystals and contains essential oils of lemon zest, orange grapefruit, mint, lemon and rosemary. I love its zingy, refreshing scent and find it really does invigorate the senses. I use it in the shower on damp skin by gentle massaging the formula into my skin. I’m always amazed at how soft my skin feels after a good scrub. Also, don’t forget that exfoliating the skin ensures the products you use thereafter absorb and do their job so much better.
